Operation and Failure of Brake Caliper (suzhoudaying dinglu)

The role of the brake calipers is to squeeze the Brake Pads against the Brake Rotors. This in turn will apply sufficient presure so that the friction between pads and rotors can bring the vehicle to a stop. While it is the brake friction itself that stops the brake caliper for Audi vehicle, your vehicle's brake system is only able to apply the amount of pressure that is required because of brake hydraulics. The operation of your brake caliper is really all about simple hydraulics more than anything else.

When you step on your brake pedal, hydraulic brake fluid is being pushed through the Brake Master Cylinder and into the brake system. Soon thereafter, it will make it to the brake calipers in a very high pressure manner. The moment this pressure hits the brake calipers, it forces the piston inside each of the calipers to push against the brake rotors. This also allows the brake calipers to push in the brake caliper for Prado opposite direction and in turn squeeze the rotors from both sides. The pressure is spread out completely and evenly and happens instantaneously when the brake system is functioning perfectly. You brake pads are installed on the inside of the brake calipers where it makes contact with the brake rotors.


There are two major reasons for brake caliper failure. Either the brake caliper has "frozen", which is when the piston inside of the brake caliper gets locked up inside its chamber and fails to move properly. A leaking brake caliper on the other brake caliper for Mercedes hand that loses hydraulic pressure can result in instant failure of the caliper. But in either case, a brake caliper is not something that is typically repaired. If there is a problem of any kind, it is often easier just to replace it. This is because brake caliper remanufacturing takes skill, unique tools and experience.
